Penguin Class (Bridge-K)

Penguin Bridge Kindergarten is designed for 4 year old students who turn 5 shortly after September. The Penguin Class covers similar concepts as a kindergarten class to challenge these older students, but in a smaller environment at an age appropriate level.  Upon graduation, our Penguin Class graduates enter Kindergarten with a complete grasp of all the skills needed to thrive in elementary school, and are well prepared for social and academic success in the school of their choice.

Math skills such as patterning, addition, subtraction, and number theory are practiced and reinforced through games and manipulatives.  Beginning reading skills such as letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and rhyming are also a major focus in the Penguin Classroom.  Art activities help hone fine motor skills and allow our students to express their creativity.  Students also practice writing and instruction following skills with daily whole group academic exercises.

Penguins and Puffins participate in projects and field trips together to reinforce lessons in all subject areas and bring learning to life for our enthusiastic students.

*In addition to regular classroom teachers, the Penguin Class also has music, Japanese, Spanish and yoga lessons from specialized teachers every week.
