Music

Ever since it’s founding in 1964, Nomura Preschool has placed a strong emphasis on music as a means of laying the foundation for higher-level thinking skills, and encouraging positive social interaction. Specialized music teachers visit each class and expose our preschoolers to music using an exciting, fun-filled approach that features songs, games, movement and instruments.

Japanese

Basic Japanese language instruction forms the groundwork for upper-grade foreign language development and cultural exploration. Our specialized teachers present songs, colors, numbers and general expressions for daily practice.

Yoga

Our yoga class is a fun, safe introduction to stretching and yoga poses. It develops strength, improves coordination, and increases flexibility of young bodies. Children playfully stretch like dogs, roar like lions, stand like graceful flamingos and float as gently as butterflies on a breeze.

PE Classes

Our physical education classes teach beginning skills for sports including kickball, basketball, t-ball, and soccer. Fun activities designed to develop gross motor skills, for example, jumping and balancing are integrated into every lesson. Children also practice teamwork, sharing and taking turns.

Performances

Children love to show off what they have learned. Performance experiences begin with informal class demonstrations and develop into recitals and school wide musicals. Japanese and extracurricular demonstrations are also showcased.

Character Awards

Each month the students learn about and practice a different character trait. Kindness, manners, teamwork, listening, respect, courage and caring are all encouraged and valued by the teachers and students at Nomura Preschool.

Summer Themes

Each summer, students at Nomura Preschool study a variety of fun and exciting themes in short, two-week periods. Past themes include “Cooking Up a Storm,” “Hawaiian Days” and the “Summer Olympics”. Whether they are creating food dishes from different cultures, making and exploding their very own volcano, or showing off their athletic prowess, these summer activities are a great way to introduce new experiences.
